I renewed my membership, but haven’t received my card. Where can I pick it up? |
If you did not renew your membership at the Members Appreciation night held at the dealership then your card might not get printed until the Membership Officer has at least 10 new or renewed members. The cards are 10 to a printer sheet and it would be a waste of paper to print only one card. Typically, it doesn’t take long to have 10 cards ready for printing. The printed cards are available for pick up at the Dealership. If you live out of town (beyond SV, Benson, Bisbee) contact the Membership Officer and it will be mailed to you along with your calendar, if you have not already received a calendar. After March 1st, cards and calendars that have not been picked up will be mailed. |
Can I pick up a membership card for my friend? |
| NO! Unfortunately too many cards have been lost by well meaning friends. Your friend can pick up their card at the dealership, at the next ride or next membership meeting. Please remember, the dealership is not responsible for your membership card. Having your membership card at the dealership is a courtesy of the shop, but not their responsibility. If you have a problem with your membership card please contact a Chapter Officer. |

The Attendance List shows I am expired. |
If you have not renewed your National Membership by the renewal date then you are considered expired. Due to a timing issue you might have renewed your National Membership and the Membership Office has not downloaded the National Database and matched it against the TMH database. Once the Membership Officer down loads the national database it is automatically matched to the TMH database. The Chapter will allow a 60 day grace period for you renew your national number. For insurance purposes, during this grace period, you will have to sign a release form at all Chapter rides. However, after 60 days if you have not renewed your National Membership, you will be moved to the INACTIVE membership list. |
Why did my last name appear in my National H.O.G. Number on my card? |
Your application has not been processed by National H.O.G. yet and they have not assigned you a National Number. When you receive your number you should contact the Membership Officer and provide your number to update the TMH database.
How do I contact a TMH Officer? |
If you are a current member you should have received your Thunder Mountain H.O.G. Calendar. The first page lists all the officers with contact information. Most officers also have email links from the Officers page of this website.
Are the Chapter Officers Compensated? |
No. All officers have volunteered to serve the chapter in their spare time. Many have full time jobs and still manage to conduct chapter business, organize rides and events and attend membership meetings. Their only reward is if you enjoyed a ride or event or tell them they are doing a good job. If you think it could be done better feel free to volunteer or attend a Monthly Business Meeting to express your thoughts. |
I changed my Email, Mailing Address, Name…etc. |
Contact the Membership Officer and provide them with your changes as soon as possible. |
I haven’t received an email from the chapter in several months. |
Contact the Membership Officer and confirm your email address. Confirm that your online mailbox has not exceeded the limit; which will cause email to be undeliverable |
Where do I get the HOG Patches and/or Thunder Mountain Rockers? |
HOG Patches and/or Thunder Mountain Rockers can be purchased from the Chapter Treasurer. The Treasurer maintains a stock of patches, pins and rockers that he brings to the Monthly General Meeting. If you need a patch, pin or rocker and cannot make a meeting, contact the Treasurer. There are several sizes and two types, the black background and the reflective background. The large reflective H.O.G. patch qualifies as a reflector to ride on Fort Huachuca.
Where do I get a Road Captain patch? |
Once you have qualified as a Road Captain, the Head Road Captain will issue you a patch. Additional patches can be ordered through the Treasurer but you will have to pay for them yourself.
Can my spouse be a member? |
If your spouse is a passenger your spouse can join National H.O.G. as an Associate Member using your VIN number and then join Thunder Mountain Chapter as a full member. Your spouse will receive their own unique National H.O.G. Membership card. As a full member of TMH your spouse would not be required to sign a release form for every ride or event. Plus they can enjoy all the benefits of being a full member of Thunder Mountain H.O.G. Chapter. |

What is the 4 or 7 Chapter Ride? |
The Sierra Vista Dealership is owned by a large company that currently owns several other Harley-Davidson dealerships. The gathering of members from each of the other H.O.G. sponsored chapters has become an annual event |
Can I attend a Monthly Business Meeting? |
The Monthly Business Meeting is open to all members and is the ideal forum to present your ideas or voice your concerns. To get your idea or concern put onto the agenda, contact the Director no later than 1 week prior to the upcoming Monthly Business Meeting. Time permitting, issues that are not on the agenda, or New Business, will be addressed after all agenda items have been addressed.

What is a Primary Officer? |
Every Chapter has four Primary Officers which for the most part are chosen by the Sponsoring Dealership. The Primary Officers are; Director, Assistant Director, Secretary and Treasurer. It takes more than these four officers to manage a H.O.G. chapter, but these are the Primary Officers. |
Why do I have to listen to the same pre-ride briefing before each ride? |
The pre-ride briefing is used to introduce the group riding procedures to any riders joining our group for the first time and to get all attendees to focus on the dynamics of group riding. We believe that TMH’s perfect safety record for over six years is largely due to the Road Captains and the Safety Officer taking their job very seriously and providing this briefing before every ride. |
What is the Sponsoring Dealership? |
In 1983 Harley-Davidson started the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) as a means of promoting riding and having fun on Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. Each Dealership was given the opportunity to sponsor a H.O.G. Chapter as an extension of their Dealership which has lead to increased sales of motorcycles, motor clothes and motorcycle accessories. Sponsoring a H.O.G. Chapter is a business decision for each Dealership, therefore the dealership can oversee the Chapter, make decisions regarding Primary Officers and can, if necessary, change or remove Officers and members for the good of the Chapter and the Sponsor. |

I found a great restaurant and would like to add it to our list of possible places to eat. How do I get this done? |
Email or contact the Activities Officer with the details and he will assist you in getting the event coordinated. If you would like to get a ride schedule for the next year, plan to attend one of the quarterly Activities Meeting to get it on the schedule. |
I have an idea for a great ride. How can I get it on the schedule? |
If you would like to get a ride schedule for the next year, plan to attend one of the quarterly Activities Meeting to get it on the schedule. The chapter can always use new and fresh ideas for rides, events or activities. Don’t be shy. This is your chapter. |
Why do all riders and passengers need to sign a release at an Open event? |
Several reasons of which the first is our events are attend by H.O.G. members from other H.O.G. chapters and we do not have their release forms in our files. It goes with out saying that any person attending an Open event must sign a release form and instead of trying to figure out who needs to sign and who doesn’t it is easier to have everyone sign. This is called RISK MANAGEMENT and why take the risk of not having a signed release if an accident should happen. Release forms are required for any OPEN event or activity, even if you are not riding as part of that event.
Why do we share activities with the American Legion Riders or SAHR, but not the other motorcycle clubs? |
H.O.G.’s image is intended to be a family organization where spouses and children are welcome and included in our activities. The TMH Chapter will share activities with ALR and SAHR because they base their organization on many of the same values as H.O.G. We have informally support other organizations, but would never share in any activities unless they can show us how they meet H.O.G. standards. |
Why are all the email messages in the same format? |
People receive too much reading material every day. When they open TMH emails they know where to look for the information they need quickly and efficiently saving time. If they decide to know more they can read the “Additional Information”. |
Can I get a discount from other Harley-Davidson shops with my National H.O.G. card? |
Each shop manager makes a business decision regarding discounts for National Membership, just local chapter discount or NO DISCOUNT at all. Keep in mind that each shop is responsible for their own profitability and offering discounts is a business decision. It does not hurt to ask each shop you visit, but don’t expect a discount to be given. If you do receive a discount tell them how much you appreciate their consideration.
