Hi All, (Fm Jim Straka!)
I've had lots of inquires about the Roswell UFO Festival Trip in July.
First, f you go online to the following URL, http://www.roswellufofestival.com, you can get the latest updated in formation. The schedule hasn't been totally firmed up but the major events have been identified.
The UFO Festival is schedule for July 1-4, 2010. If you download the 2009 calendar of events you will get an idea as to what goes on. The Parade for 2010 is scheduled for Saturday July 3rd starting at noon, There are exhibits and presentations all weekend long at various locations through out Roswell.
We leave Sierra Vista on Thursday, July 1st, ride through White Sands Missle Range and White Sands Monument, through Alamogordo, Ruidoso, and on to Roswell, about 450 miles. We need to leave no later then 0800.
On the return Sunday July the 4th we can go south via Carlsbad, NM across the take the Hwy 375 bypass around El Paso, onto I 10 and on to Sierra Vista, about 550 miles - or return by backtracking the July 1st route, (group decision)
Darla and will try to stay at the La Quinta Inn and Suites, Roswell 200 East 19Th Street, Roswell, NM, US 505-622-8000.
Hotels in Roswell will be filling up rapidly so you need to make reservations very soon, they can be canceled at a later date (as per the motel requirements). Expect to pay more then usual due to the large attendance at the Festival. Kind of like the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. People make reservations a year ahead.
Go to http://book.newmexicohotels.org/hotel/?refid=1082&rs_hid=58212&view=o#resultsTop for a list of motels. Look at the guest comments before you reserve a room.
Please contact me ASAP if you plan on going on the ride so I can get a head count.
Thanks, Jim
